Your Authorized Balemaster Distributor for Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky & Western Pennsylvania

Black River Trading is the Authorized Balemaster Distributor serving Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, and Western Pennsylvania.

For our customers, that relationship means much more than having a place to purchase a new Balemaster baler.

It means having a local partner for Balemaster equipment, Balemaster parts, field service, preventative maintenance, operator training, maintenance training, troubleshooting, and baling wire.

And sometimes, support means showing up when the customer’s production schedule gives us only one option.

Night shift.

Recently, one of our BRT crews performed comprehensive preventative maintenance and minor repairs on a customer’s Balemaster auto-tie baler.

The customer could not afford any additional production downtime. Working during the day wasn’t an option.

So our technicians worked the night shift.

That’s what support required, and that’s what we did.

More Than a Filter Change

We believe preventative maintenance on an industrial auto-tie baler should accomplish more than replacing filters and checking boxes.

Our technicians performed a detailed service that included:

  • Double-filtering the hydraulic oil
  • Squeegeeing and cleaning the hydraulic reservoir
  • Inspecting the inside of the tank
  • Checking for metal, debris, contamination, and abnormal buildup
  • Replacing the hydraulic strainer
  • Replacing hydraulic filters
  • Replacing air/breather filters
  • Performing additional inspections and minor repairs
  • Taking a hydraulic oil sample before filtration
  • Taking another hydraulic oil sample after filtration

And when we maintain Balemaster equipment, we use Balemaster parts.

Why Get Inside the Hydraulic Reservoir?

The hydraulic system is the heart of an industrial auto-tie baler.

Pumps, valves, manifolds, cylinders, hoses, seals, and other expensive components all depend on hydraulic oil to operate properly.

That’s why we don’t believe looking through a sight glass tells the whole story.

Our technicians physically inspected and cleaned the inside of the reservoir.

We’re looking for contamination, sludge, debris, and especially metal that could indicate abnormal component wear somewhere within the hydraulic system.

Finding those warning signs during planned maintenance gives the customer an opportunity to address the problem before production finds it first.

Why Take Oil Samples Before and After Filtration?

We want more than assumptions.

We want information.

For this service, BRT took one hydraulic oil sample before filtration and another after the oil had been double-filtered.

Oil analysis can provide valuable information regarding contamination, particle levels, wear metals, and overall oil condition.

The before-and-after samples also allow us to evaluate the condition of the oil and better understand the impact of the filtration process.

That’s a much different approach than simply saying:

"The oil looks clean."

Why Balemaster Parts Matter

Our customers invested in Balemaster equipment for a reason.

When we maintain that equipment, we believe in using Balemaster parts to help keep the machine operating as intended.

As the Authorized Balemaster Distributor for our territory, BRT can support customers with the parts needed for routine maintenance, as well as larger repairs and equipment projects.

Our goal is to become the call our Balemaster customers make whether they need a filter, a technician, technical support, training, or an entirely new Balemaster system.

Support Has to Work Around Production

Preventative maintenance is intended to reduce downtime.

It shouldn’t unnecessarily create more of it.

For this customer, production demands meant the baler could not remain down any longer than necessary.

Night shift wasn’t simply a scheduling preference.

It was the only practical way to get the work completed without creating additional production downtime.

Our crew adjusted.

That’s part of what exceptional support means to us.
