Buying new equipment should inspire confidence.
You know the machine’s history from day one. You receive manufacturer warranty protection. You have access to current parts and technical support. And most importantly, you should know who to call if something doesn’t go as planned.
Recently, one of our Black River Trading crews responded to a warranty service call on a new vertical baler that we sold earlier this year.
The machine developed an issue with its main hydraulic cylinder.
Our responsibility was straightforward:
Take care of the customer and get the baler back to work.
When New Equipment Has a Problem
New equipment can significantly reduce many of the uncertainties associated with purchasing older machinery.
But new doesn’t mean a component can never fail.
Industrial balers operate under significant hydraulic pressure and mechanical force. When an unexpected warranty issue occurs, the customer shouldn’t be left trying to determine who is responsible—or who to call.
That’s where the relationship with the equipment dealer becomes important.
Our technicians responded to the customer’s facility, addressed the warranty issue, replaced the main hydraulic cylinder, and tested the equipment to verify proper operation.
The baler was returned to service, and the customer could get back to processing material.
The Equipment Sale Is Only the Beginning
This is something we continue to emphasize at Black River Trading.
Selling equipment is one transaction.
Supporting it is a relationship.
When a customer purchases a new vertical baler, horizontal baler, auto-tie baler, two-ram baler, shredder, conveyor, or other recycling equipment from BRT, we want them to know who they’re calling afterward.
That support can include:
- Equipment installation
- Startup and commissioning
- Warranty service
- Replacement parts
- Hydraulic repairs
- Electrical troubleshooting
- Preventive maintenance
- Operator training
- Maintenance training
- Long-term field service
We want to know the equipment and the customer before there’s ever a problem.
Why Dealer Support Matters When Buying New Equipment
Warranty coverage is important.
But the words written in a warranty document don’t physically repair the machine.
People do.
Before purchasing new industrial recycling equipment, customers should consider more than the specifications and purchase price.
Ask:
Who will install it?
Who will start it up?
Who will train our people?
Who will provide parts?
Who will troubleshoot it?
And if something unexpected happens under warranty, who is actually going to show up?
Those answers are part of the equipment investment.
Standing Behind What We Sell
We don’t expect every project or every piece of equipment to be perfect forever.
What we can control is how we respond.
For this customer, that meant getting a BRT technician onsite, replacing the failed main hydraulic cylinder through the warranty process, verifying the repair, and returning the vertical baler to operation.
That’s the support we want associated with the BRT name.
Looking for a New Vertical Baler?
If you’re considering replacing an aging vertical baler or adding equipment at another location, Black River Trading can help evaluate your application and recommend the right solution.
And after the equipment is installed, we’re still here.
New equipment. Installation. Warranty support. Parts. Service. Training. Preventive maintenance.
Because a warranty is only as valuable as the people standing behind it.
