Most facilities have one.
That equipment project everyone knows needs to happen.
Maybe production has outgrown the existing baler.
Maybe you’re processing more material than you were five years ago.
Maybe employees are spending too much time manually handling recyclable material.
Maybe you need another shredder.
Maybe the existing recycling system technically still works—but everyone knows it’s holding the operation back.
The project gets discussed.
Budget numbers get requested.
Someone says, “Let’s revisit it next quarter.”
And another six months passes.
Meanwhile, the underlying problem hasn’t disappeared.
Sometimes the Cost Is What You’re Not Producing
Capital equipment is expensive, so delaying a purchase can feel financially responsible.
Sometimes it is.
But there’s another side of the equation.
What would the operation gain if the right equipment were already installed?
More throughput?
Higher bale weights?
Reduced labor?
Better automation?
Additional processing capacity?
More consistent production?
Those improvements have value, too.
The real financial question isn’t simply:
“How much does new equipment cost?”
It may be:
“What is waiting another year costing us?”
Start With the Problem, Not the Model Number
You don’t need to know which baler or shredder you need before contacting Black River Trading.
That’s part of our job.
Tell us what isn’t working.
Tell us what you’re processing.
Tell us how much material you’re generating.
Tell us where production needs to go.
From there, we can begin evaluating the right solution.
High-Volume OCC and Paper
If your facility is processing increasing volumes of cardboard, paper, corrugated material, or similar commodities, the next step may be a new Balemaster auto-tie baler.
Automation and continuous baling can significantly change the material-handling process for the right high-volume application.
For facilities that don’t require an auto-tie, a properly selected closed-door baler may provide the production, bale quality, and simplicity the operation needs.
Multiple Material Streams
Operations processing several commodities face a different challenge.
A machine optimized for one material may not provide the flexibility needed for another.
An Excel two-ram baler can be an excellent solution for facilities processing multiple recyclable commodities and requiring dense, consistent bales.
Excel’s specialty full-eject balers also provide options for applications where conventional horizontal balers may not be the best fit.
Material Needs to Be Reduced First
Sometimes baling isn’t the bottleneck.
Material preparation is.
An industrial shredder can reduce bulky material, improve downstream processing, and provide additional capacity for operations where size reduction is critical.
BRT works with new, used, mobile, single-shaft, multi-shaft, and other industrial shredding solutions, depending on the application.
New Isn’t Your Only Option
Capital budget is often the reason equipment projects get delayed.
That’s also why BRT maintains an inventory of used and reconditionable recycling equipment.
Depending on the machine, customers can select equipment from our inventory and choose from multiple BRT rebuild packages with corresponding warranty options.
That allows us to balance the equipment, application, capital budget, desired condition, and warranty rather than forcing every customer into the same solution.
Sometimes new is absolutely the best investment.
Sometimes professionally reconditioned equipment makes more sense.
We offer both because the right answer depends on the customer.
The Entire Project Matters
Buying the machine is only one part of an equipment project.
Someone still needs to determine how it fits into the facility.
How will material reach it?
What electrical requirements need to be addressed?
Does existing equipment need to be removed?
Who installs the new equipment?
Who performs startup?
Who trains the operators?
Who supports it afterward?
BRT can help with the complete process:
- Application review
- New and reconditioned equipment
- Equipment removal
- Installation
- Conveyors and material handling
- Startup and commissioning
- Operator training
- Maintenance training
- Parts
- Preventive maintenance
- Field service
- Long-term technical support
The goal is not simply to deliver a machine.
The goal is to deliver the result the customer needed when the project started.
What’s Still Sitting on Your Project List?
Think about the equipment project your team has been discussing.
If nothing changes for another year, what happens?
Does production continue growing?
Does labor remain a challenge?
Does the material volume increase?
Does the existing equipment become another year older?
There may be perfectly good reasons to wait.
But make that decision after understanding the options—not simply because nobody has had time to move the project forward.
If you have a baler, shredder, conveyor, or recycling equipment project sitting on your list, reach out to Black River Trading.
You don’t need a specification.
You don’t need a model number.
You don’t even need to know whether you want new or reconditioned equipment yet.
Tell us what you’re trying to accomplish. We’ll help you figure out the rest.
